Mission Statement

The mission of the International Ovarian and Testicular Stromal Tumor Registry is to advance research and treatment of these rare tumors to benefit patients and further the understanding of rare cancers.

The specific aims of the Registry are:

-          To advance research for patients with ovarian and testicular stromal tumors and similar rare tumors

-          To create a repository of clinical and biologic data for ovarian and testicular stromal tumors to facilitate current and future research

-          To provide expert pathologic assessment establishing the diagnosis of ovarian and testicular stromal tumors and similar tumors and provide histopathologic details for each patient

-          To determine the prevalence of DICER1 germline mutations in patients with ovarian and testicular stromal tumors

-          To determine the DICER1 immunohistochemical expression and miRNA expression profiles of gonadal stromal tumors with and without germline DICER1 mutations.

-          To determine other genes and pathways involved in the etiology and pathogenesis of gonadal stromal tumors

-          To determine how genetic factors influence prognosis

-                      To determine appropriate screening guidelines for girls and women at risk of ovarian tumors

-                      To establish an ongoing process of data dissemination through the website and peer-reviewed publications and scientific meeting presentations.
